WWTP Zywiec/Poland goes into operation

On Monday, June 14, 2010 Zywiec WWTP (209,000 p.e., 42,000 m³/d) was inaugurated in the presence of high-ranking public representatives (H.E. The Mayor of Zywiec, H.E. The Polish Minister of Environment, H.E. The Director General of the Polish Environmental Fund etc.)
Since autumn 2009 the plant has been in trial operation and since then has met all requested treatment levels even under disadvantageous nutrient conditions in the influent (BSB/TN < ca. 3.2 mg/l) and at low wastewater temperatures (< 8 °C).
The biological stage of the water line was designed according to the cyclic activated sludge technology “C-TECH”, which makes Zywiec WWTP one of the largest wastewater treatment plants worldwide having adopted this technology.
For this project SFC has provided the complete services of permit and detail design as well as the elaboration of the tender documents.
The total investment costs amount to ca. 17 mio EUR.
On the occasion of the plant inauguration the employer publically and officially expressed his thanks to SFC for the excellent cooperation and the results achieved.

Treating wastewater for reuse

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, conducted a performance evaluation of the STP at Nerul in 2008 and concluded that this plant is producing treated water which not only completely meets the Indian standards, but almost fullfils US EPA & California water recycling requirements for non-potable reuse standards.
